These 3 mistakes can ruin your Ramzaan

Avoid these three mistakes during Ramadan:

1.       Getting Angry: As we are welcomed with the blessings of Ramadan, which is a month to gain closeness towards our Maker & a great chance to not just to pause on the bad habits but also to transform them into good conduct & mannerisms. Ramadan comes from the Arabic root R-M-Ḍ (ر-م-ض‎) which means “to burn”. Imam Qurtubi said, “It was named Ramadan because it burns the sins of people with good deeds.” Fasting is not just about a diet of burning calories, it is about burning ego, pride, vengeance, hatred. Let not the hunger attack so much that we earn the displeasure of Allah, whenever hunger rages, let’s remember the less fortunate who have to go through this every day.

The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said- “Whoever doesn’t give up false speech and acting upon it & offensive speech & behavior, Allah does not need his giving up food & drink.”

[Sahih al-Bukhari]

2.       Fasting without Praying: As we know that Ramadan is the best month to develop and rebuilt our relationship with our Rabb, what best action can it be created from other than Salah (Namaz)? A slave stands in front of Allah on two occasions. The first during Salah, and secondly on the Day of Judgement. Whoever stands correctly in the first, the second standing will be made easier for him. And whoever disregards the first standing, the second standing will be extremely difficult. Your Salah could be your ticket to Jannah!

A man came to Messenger of Allah (SAW) and said, “Direct me to a deed which will admit me to Jannah and take me away from the fire.” The Prophet (SAW) said, “Worship Allah & associate no partner with Him, perform As-Salah, pay Zakah, and maintain the ties of kinship.”

3.       Sleeping all day – If we will only sleep all day, then we haven’t done justice to our soul. Our soul will only find peace in the remembrance of its Creator. Therefore, a day without the remembrance of Allah is a day wasted.  A Muslim should divide his day just as the Prophet Muhammad (SAW). He used to keep a portion for Allah, his family, and the community.

So, utilize your time in the best possible way as you will never get it back!
