3 Important things to remember while fasting

Say: Alhamdulillah, if you are alive in this blessed month! Allah (SWT) has given you another chance to seek His forgiveness for your past sins & earn His pleasure by involving in good righteous deeds. But let’s not forget the following points:

  1. Being conscious of Allah- Let’s remain conscious of Allah when committing any action. A true Muslim is aware that the two angels Kiraman Katibeen (the honorable scribes) are writing their deeds at all times so they know that every single action is been recorded in a clear book. How do you want to see your Book of Deeds? This month, the shayateen are chained up, so they don’t have power over you. A Muslim should also remember that the reward for good deeds is multiplied much more than any other month, so be conscious of Allah and fear Him in all the matters.
  1. Remembering it’s Sole-Purpose – Fasting is one of the 5 main pillars of Islam and it is prescribed upon every Muslim; whosoever is capable to fast. The most important thing to remember while fasting is to remember the Sole-Purpose of fasting i.e. to gain the Taqwa (Consciousness) of Allah. It involves not only of fasting of the stomach but also includes abstaining from all the impermissible things. Then it will have a double reward. Fasting is one of the greatest acts of worship and one of the paths to enter Paradise.

The Prophet said, “There is a gate in Paradise called Ar-Rayyan. On the Day of Ressurection, it will say: ‘Where are those who fasted?’ When the last one has passed through the gate, it will be locked.”

(Al-Bukhari & Muslim)
  1. Be Focused & Do not waste time- Time is precious & Ramadan is the best time to break bad habits and continue to have focused daily schedules. Stay focused and utilize your time in a proper way. When it comes to the usage of the social mediums, let’s use it wisely, let’s not keep scrolling on Facebook & Instagram unnecessarily. Let’s use it to give charity as we can help all the people in need & watch beneficial Islamic lectures. Imagine you can learn and give from the comfort of your homes.

May Allah allow us to utilize our time in a way that is pleasing to Him Alone. May we succeed in fulfilling the Sole-purpose of Ramadan. Aameen.
